This Oversight Committee is established each Term through a Government Motion in order to review the performance and budget of the Office of the Ombudsman, in compliance with section 45 of the Public Management and Finance Act (PMFA) and section 6(3) of the Ombudsman Act (2021 Revision). Each iteration of the Committee establishes its Terms of Reference and operates on a quorum of three Members.

The Committee prepares a report annually on the activities of the Committee for each Session of Parliament. The Chair presents the Committee’s annual report to the House in accordance with Standing Orders 74(1) and 81(1).
